WHITE OAK MUSIC HALL
HOUSTON TX
It all began with an innocuous Gchat conversation with childhood friend, Will Garwood. He asked a simple enough question which ended up turning into a life-changing project for the both of us. “Why isn’t there an outdoor live music venue in Houston?”
I assumed he was asking me because I was his only friend who had both spent a lot of time in the music business, but who was also an architect. I suppose I had a unique perspective on the question. While working with Schaum Shieh Architects, we were able to help Will and his partners bring this project to life, creating a one-of-a-kind performance space and a new icon for the city of Houston. The project features two indoor stages, including a 1000+ capacity theater and a smaller club. As well as a 3000+ capacity outdoor amphitheater overlooking the downtown Houston skyline. The project won an AIA Design excellence award in 2018.
